Wake me up when Movember ends

Sitting at top of the Eastern Conference after going 10 - 3 - 2 this month, it's time to take a short look back how the team performed this Movember.


First of all, the November has always been a time of B's hot streaks in recent years, as they went 11-1-1 in Nov. '08 and 12-0-1 in Nov. '11.
Especially the year after winning the Cup, November turned the season around for the B's after suffering from a massive cup hangover in October in which they lost 7 of their 10 opening games.

This year there was nothing much to turn around as the Bruins started the season 8-4 with only one significant loss beeing the 3rd period meltdown against New Jersey when they allowed two PPG's (4 total) in the last two minutes.

November started with a 1-3 loss on the road against the Islanders, when Bostons D decided to disappear completely and let back-up Chad Johnson look like a goaltender playing his 1st NHL game.
The return of Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley to TD Garden ended in a 2-3 shootout loss in which both of them scored, Pevs even with the game winning goal.

The five game homestand continued as the Bruins wouldn't lose another game on home ice (4 wins in a row), before travelling to Ottawa for the 3rd back-to-back matchup of this season
After a good start with two early goals from Eriksson and Marchand the Bruins lost the game heavy-legged in the 3rd period, allowing three Sens' goals within 10 minutes.

Boston would win the next two games against the Hurricanes and Rangers to finish of their second Eastern road trip this season, now sitting at 1st in their Conference.
In a tough battle against St. Louis the B's were beaten in a shootout, one of only two losses on home-ice this month, both of them in a SO.

Wins against Carolina and Pittsburgh in OT sent the Bruins on the road to Detroit, where the Red Wings blew them out badly, resulting in a 6-1 loss at Joe Louis Arena.
Thanksgiving brough the B's back on track with more or less convincing wins against New York and Columbus.

It's very remarkable that this team has only lost two games in a row once this season (Devils and Penguins), as Coach Claude Julien and his assistants seem to always make the right decisions.
In a tough November schedule the B's had to play 10 games in 16 days and still managed to win 7 of them.

Kevan Miller made his NHL debut after injuries from Seidenberg and McQuaid, showing that he's ready for higher tasks (He's yet again called up on an emergency basis).

Chad Johnson was dressed in four games, trying to give Rask the breaks he needs to continue to perform on an elite level. The back-up goalie won three of them, now having a decent .918 SV% with a GGA of 1.97.

Speaking about Movember, it's arguably that Chris Kelly has won the B's locker room competition growing a great beard for an even greater cause.
